DAY 1

Drive into Carnarvon Gorge National Park

A map of day 1.

Kicking off the walk

Admiring Carnarvon Creek. One of about 15 creek crossings on day 1.

On our way to the Moss Garden (side track)

The Moss Garden! Water seeps through 700 meters of sandstone.
Once it hits shale it seeps out the gorge wall nourishing this lovely moss.

The entrance to the Amphitheatre, as seen from the approach (side track).

Inside looking up.

The walls.

Ward's Canyon. The Ward brothers made this their home during possum hunting season.
Not surprisingly, there are signs of human inhabitation dating back 20,000 years.

Nearing our camp at Big Bend.

DAY 2
Selfie on the morning of day 2!

Boowinda Gorge: a magnificent start to the day.

Then we went up.
This is us looking down on our new friends as they start the ascent.

Cannot capture the verticality! (again, looking down)

We came out on top!

Even further up.

Walking.

Carnarvon Gorge from above.

Gadd's walkers Camp where we spent night 2.

Stay tuned for the rest of the hike...
