Photos of the last two months

One of the first things that is noticeable in a new country is new and different food. As a chip/ crisp fiend, I must say that Australia has topped the US for chip/ crisp flavours!

Below are some new names for some familiar items. As well as some new names for some unfamiliar items...

High Tea is pretty common.
High tea is pretty common here. Thus far we have only partaken in a champagne high tea at the Treasury. A historic building turned Casino.

I found the American contingent for midterm elections.

Familiar belongings!

Where did our kitchen go?

But this is nice.

Our new plant family.

We needed a coffee table. We also seem to have an abundance of books.

Forgot to take a picture of Thanksgiving dinner, but this was our table.

Gluten free pumpkin pie with Bundaberg Rum (an Aussie favourite).

We had to go back to Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary for our animal fix.

The elusive wombat.

The ever so noisy lorikeet birds.

An amazing insect. This here is the female where as the male looks more like your typical walking stick.

My new favourite bird, a tawny frogmouth.

Australian reptiles

The closest I felt to Christmas. I was on a tour of the Supreme Court and all the portraits were of Santa.

Australian Christmas decor. Sorry about the silhouette, this was actually quite lovely.

City hall decked for the season.

Our Christmas bouquet and gifts to ourselves- books and kite gear.

We have a kite!

Christmas morning brekkie- mimosas and crepes.

We met Thu and Park in New South Whales. This was taken from the Tweed Valley Art Gallery.

After a visit to Tweed Valley and Byron Bay we stopped by the Eastern most point in Australia.

A new brewery located not far from the kite beach. Pretty tasty!

When there was no wind we went to the Brisbane International. This was our one and only glimpse of Nadal as he pulled out due to injury. There were more people watching him practice than there were on the actual matches at the time.

Raonic was impressive to watch.

David's surprise weekend. He didn't know we were headed to Binna Burra Lodge in Lammington National Park.

This pademelon welcomed us.

As did this evil plant. Apparently nicknamed the "lawyer plant" or the "wait-a-while." Not only is the stem spiny, the leaves are spiny, and then it has long runners that are spiny. If it gets you, it really gets you. Interpret as you will.

The view from our room.

The landscape.

There is a Koala in this tree. Our first wild koala sighting.

Dinner and sunset at the lodge.

Our rainforest boat ride down the Tweed River. Aside from some incredible flood plain rainforest we saw numerous birds.

The gardens at Mavis's Kitchen and Cabins where we had lunch.

A guinea tribute to my parents. Australia has these African birds too.

Mt. Warning seen from the grounds of Mavis's Kitchen and Cabins.

And another view from our balcony. Home sweet home.
