Svaneti!

Well the journey started off... then stalled a bit. But from what I could tell it was the cheapest quickest car fix I have ever seen.

I like their methods.

The bridge that some giant stepped on- and Mestia in the background. This gives you an idea of the recent growth of Mestia in the past five to six years. It has destroyed much of the areas character.

The famous towers that no one knows who built or why. (Clearly defence of some sort)

Mist-ical? I am sorry.

Beautiful gorge on our way to the new museum. Mestia can be seen in the background.

Looking the other direction you could see the museum.

I enjoyed this method of exhibition. Not to mention the artifacts were pretty impressive.

The cauldron where sacrificial animals were cooked. Oh, and the accession number visible on a post-it note.

Teaching Luke the ways of puri!

Midday cha cha (read moonshine) break with hostel owner, Robinzon.

The start of our hike towards Russia, looking south.

Non-functional airport.

Peaks!

Proof I was there. And proof we saw glaciers.

Enthusiastic?

Our goal.

Another peak.

Guess we climbed a bit high.

Just pretty.

Overall picture of our surroundings.

A wee touch of sun.

Russian border? Also, Peter Jackson could have made the hobbit movies substantially cheaper in GE.

What greeted us upon our arrival back at the hostel.

More cha cha with Robinzon!

The mood of the night. The horns are traditional toasting vessels.

Excellent tamada!

Opps. Not for facebook!

Great dancers (and posture).

Luke will hate me.

Now I am back in Istanbul. Time to research and study. Perhaps more pictures to come in mid-August with my travels to the UK.
