This group of images begins with a day of exploration with a few local university students. The original plan was to take a group of school kids to a series of churches. However, due to some sprinkles and grey skies, the (helicopter) parents decided it was not an appropriate day for a trip. Instead the two Salomes, Maiko, Maki and I ate the food and explored the open air ethnography museum in Tbilisi. You can see later, that the trip with the kids was replanned for a few days later. Ironically enough, that day did include some rain, while the original day turned out to be quite lovely.
A walk up beer place! Very exciting after living in Turkey!
Our liter o' beer!
Epic second breakfast- it was supposed to be lunch for a field trip with kids, but the parents were afraid of rain. Chicken, bread, cheese and beer! There were some fruits and veggies that followed....
Salome surrounded by a small portion of the food.
Salome and Maki explaining the architecture of traditional Georgian houses.
Apparently sheep were once worshipped and thus graves were marked by stone sheep.
A view of Tbilisi!
Dut! or თუთა! or μόρον! or Mulberries!
The ceiling of a traditional house from east Georgia.
Inside the house. Maki, Salome, Salome and I.

A flattering picture to prove I am in Tbilisi.
My toast to Marty Harris. I am comforted by the fact that you went peacefully. xo. 6/13/13
The field trip with the children was rescheduled.... I don't remember having such lungs at their age.
The church of the day- Kintsvisi Monastery.

The lower register represents King Tamar (famous queen of Georgia), flanked by her father and son. The angel is a favorite here.
Learning is touching of course...
