Konya, Kayseri, and places between

It was necessary for my research to take a short trip to the interior of Anatolia. I needed to acquaint myself with the architecture of the Seljuks of the 13th century. Below you will see a number of the sites and perhaps a few other sites that I found intriguing. (A little out of order... not sure why blogger reordered the images...) Alaeddin Camii entrance, Konya. In an attempt to conduct research, I and a few friends flew across the country, rented a car and proceed to drive. We visited a number of 10th and 11th century Georgian churches, hiked some mountains, and ate some amazing food. Here are a few photos to prove it. Still awesome. Monastery turned mosque. Small chapel now used to house firewood. Fire in a ruined church. Never gets old! Something is missing? Lovely as always! Impressed yet? Some fun figures.
