well i tried, then i forgot the camera.

Yes, I tried to update this thing about a week ago (the last time we were in Gocek) but of course with limited time, the blog page would not upload. So its been a while since an update. Lets see, after days and days of eating far too much (physically painful)I joined Yasemin and her mother on their way back to Antalya. From there I went directly to the bus station to find my way to Fethiye and the boat. Yasemin was kind enough to write on my bus ticket in Turkish instructions for people to guide me to the Yacht Plaza Hotel, the arranged meeting place for Trish and I. It was perfect timing I walked into the hotel just as she was walking into the lobby. We did the awkward glance and I ventured a greeting. It was too easy. We sat for a while talking the basics: what do you like to eat? drink? bed times? well we pretty much agreed on all things. Again, too easy.

Trish gave me the next day to venture around Fethiye, checking the ruins and marveling at the cliff tombs (not to mention the sarcophagi scattered throughout the back streets). After a long day of trekking, swimming, and a shower, we boarded the boat. That night we had a native portlander (from the next yacht over) over for drinks and dinner. Insane what a small world it is.

We sailed the next morning to a place called Round Bay, not too far away. We are mostly going to stay in the Fethiye/Gocek region as apparently I am inexperienced. Well we arent going to hoist the mainsail as there are only two of us and the wind isnt crazy strong. Although it took some time for my relative perception of speed to adjust to sailing we are topping out at about 6kts.

A few things do seem ify with the boat. Another reason why we dont use the mainsail is that Trish found the peg that held the boom to the mast lying on the deck a few days prior (it is currently securely tied). The water tanks have been pumping a lot of air, and although we should have one full, it appears that all three are empty (doesnt matter too much, we will fill up at Water Bay tomorrow morning). The refrigerator is acting up- apparently turning on and off- I dont quite understand Trish's complaints about it. And now our depth reader isnt quite working, or at least she fears that it is inaccurate. The wind gage died as well. Now I know this all sounds like a great many problems, but its not too bad (I am also convinced that some of the issues are in Trish's head)

My average day as of now consists of reading, swimming, and playing quibbler (a game made by those who created SET!) and OK (a big fad, I fist learned it on the beach in Antalya with Yasemin and her mother). I am on my third book, have written a number of postcards (send me your address if you want one) and have scraped all the barnacles off the bottom of the boat.

My parents, and possibly Yasemin and her boyfriend will join Trish and I on the boat (imagine very crowded quarters) on Tuesday. Their stay will last approximately 3 days and perhaps just perhaps I will travel inland with them briefly upon their departure.

Well as I am sure this is all far too much for anyone to read, I will end this post with a promise to renew my attempts at loading pictures on Tuesday.
